What we collect, why, and who else sees it.

Gambrel is operated by GAMBREL LLC, a Texas limited liability company (Texas Secretary of State file number 806777481). GAMBREL LLC is responsible for the information described on this page, and "we", "us" and "our" mean GAMBREL LLC throughout.
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Name | So the technician knows who they're asking for. |
| Phone number | So the company can reach you if they're running late. |
| Email address | To send your confirmation, your reminder, and the link that lets you cancel without calling. Optional — you can book without one. |
| Service address | To check the company drives there, and so the truck arrives at the right house. |
| What's wrong | Your description and any photos you attach, so the right parts are on the truck. Photos are stored with the booking and the company can see them for as long as the booking is kept. |
| Marketing preference | Whether you ticked the box that lets the company contact you later. Unticked is the default. |
Your browser makes up a random session id and stores it in that tab. It lets a contractor's dashboard say "eleven people looked at you" instead of "eleven requests". It has no name attached to it, we can't tie it back to you, and it's gone when you close the tab.
We keep ordinary server logs — IP address, page requested, time — for security and for finding faults. They're kept for about 30 days.
There are no advertising cookies, no analytics SDKs, no Facebook pixel and no Google Analytics on this site. Not as a principle we're proud of — we just don't need them to run a booking desk.
Company name, contact name, email, phone, service area, trades, a photo and a description, and the number of trucks you run. If you connect scheduling software such as ServiceTitan, we store the credentials you give us, encrypted, and use them only to read your availability and create your jobs.
The app collects everything above when you book. These are the things it can do that a browser cannot, each of which you are asked about first and none of which is required to book:
| What | Why, and when |
|---|---|
| Approximate location | Only if you tap Use my location on the ZIP screen. Your phone gives us a rough position, we turn it into a ZIP code, and we keep the ZIP rather than the position. We never ask for precise location and we never track you in the background. |
| Push notifications | Only if you turn on the night-before reminder. We store the anonymous token your phone gives us, which platform it is, the app version, and which of your appointments it belongs to, so the right reminder reaches the right phone. Turn it off and the token is retired. |
| Photos you attach | Chosen by you, one at a time, from the sheet your phone shows. The app has no access to your photo library beyond the ones you pick. |
| Sign in with Apple | Optional. Lets your appointments follow you to a new phone. Apple gives us an identifier and, if you allow it, an email — which may be one of Apple's private relay addresses. |
| Crash reports | If the app breaks, it sends the error, where in the app it happened, and the app version. No names, no addresses, no contents of anything you typed. Like any request to us it arrives from an IP address, and that is stored with it. |
The app also keeps things on your phone rather than on our servers: your saved appointments, the contact details you asked us to remember, and your sign-in if you have one. Deleting the app removes them.
Like the website, the app makes up a random id for your installation so a contractor can see how many people looked at their listing. It has no name attached and we cannot tie it back to you. There are no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs and no tracking of any kind in the app.
After a job is paid for you may be asked — by email, by text, or in the app — to rate the company out of five and, if you want to, say something about the job. The comment is always optional. Only somebody who actually had that company out through Gambrel can leave a review; there is no open review form.
Your review goes to the company that did the work. They see it on their own dashboard, alongside your name as it was on the booking, the job, and the date.
Reviews left from 13 September 2026 also appear on that company's page in the Gambrel app, where anyone choosing a contractor can read them. They are shown with your first name and the initial of your surname — "Travis B." — together with your rating, your words if you wrote any, the job, and roughly how long ago it was. Your full name, address, phone number and email are never shown. If you would like a review removed, write to us.
Reviews left before that date stay private. When you wrote them this policy said nobody else could read them, so nobody else can: they are still shown to the company that did the work and to nobody else. That is enforced in the software, not just promised here.
The company you booked. Your name, phone, email, address, job description and photos go to the contractor you chose, and to their scheduling software, because that's how the appointment gets on their calendar. They may keep you in their own customer records. If you ticked the marketing box, they may contact you later; if you didn't, they shouldn't, and you can tell us if they do.
The services that make Gambrel work. We use a small number of vendors, and none of them are advertising companies:
Nobody else. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not trade it with data brokers. We will disclose information if the law genuinely requires it, or to protect somebody's safety.
If you give a mobile number when you book, you may receive text messages about that appointment — a confirmation, a reminder, and, once the job is paid for, one message asking how it went. These are service messages about a booking you made, not marketing.
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency depends on your bookings. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not cancel your appointment, and you'll still get email.
Marketing texts from a contractor are a separate thing, they only happen if you ticked that box, and you can stop them the same way.
We do not share or sell mobile numbers or text-message consent to anyone for their own marketing. Your number goes to the contractor you booked with, so they can do the work, and to Twilio, so the message can be sent. Nobody else gets it, and no third party is ever given permission to text you off the back of a booking you made here.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
If you have an account in the app, you do not have to ask us for the last one: open You, tap Delete my account, and your details and sign-in are removed straight away. Appointments already booked stay on the contractor's schedule, because somebody is expecting to be there — cancel those from the Appointments tab if you don't want them.
Email support@getgambrel.com and we'll answer within 30 days. We won't charge you for it, and we won't treat you differently for asking.
Texas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and several other states give residents specific versions of these rights, including the right not to have personal information sold or shared for targeted advertising. We don't do either of those with anyone's information, so there is nothing for you to opt out of — but the request address above works for any of these rights.
Everything travels over HTTPS. Contractor credentials for third-party scheduling software are encrypted before they're written to the database, with a key that lives outside it. There are no customer passwords anywhere in Gambrel. Booking needs no account at all, and the optional account in the app is Sign in with Apple, which means Apple holds the credential and we never see a password — which removes the single most common thing for a site like this to leak. Contractor sign-in uses one-time email links rather than passwords.
No system is perfect. If we ever have a breach that affects you, we'll tell you.
Gambrel is for adults arranging work on a property. It isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given us information, write to us and we'll delete it.
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and email anyone it affects.
